What are A/C valve cores?

An AC Schrader valve is a common valve found in the air conditioning system. They are located in the low and high side ports of the A/C system where the valve core is threaded. Inside the valve core, there is a pin and a spring that together allow refrigerant in. This mechanism makes AC Schrader valves common in A/C systems because the valve remains closed keeping freon in the system until it's opened by a tool. Refrigerant leaking from a worn Schrader valve in the air conditioner could be one of the reasons why your car’s A/C is blowing warm air.
