What are high and low side AC port caps?

Air conditioning port caps are the primary seal for an A/C system’s service ports. In addition to keeping water, dust, grime and other debris out of the service ports, they help to contain refrigerant or Freon in the air conditioning system in the case of a leaking A/C Schrader valve cup. Making sure the AC service port caps are in place and properly installed is one of the most important things that an A/C technician can do. Any time you see a vehicle come into your bay with missing AC service port caps you should always recommend to the customer that they have new port caps installed.
